Map Ta Phut Industrial Port Phase 3
The Map Ta Phut Industrial Port Phase 3 Project is an important development
to enhance Thailand’s infrastructure capacity.
It increases the efficiency and safety of liquid cargo, natural gas, and petrochemical transportation to meet future demand.
The project supports target industries within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), especially advanced petrochemicals and clean energy,
while promoting energy security, environmental sustainability, and international safety standards.

Map Ta Phut Industrial Port
Map Ta Phut Industrial Port is the largest industrial port in Thailand. It has the capacity to transport natural gas and other products with a total volume of 16 million tonnes per year. Currently, there are 12 operators, 9 of whom are specialized port operators and 3 of which are public port operators.
Overview of the Map Ta Phut Industrial Port Development Project Phase 3
Project location: Map Ta Phut Subdistrict, Mueang Rayong District, Rayong Province
Project owner: Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT)
Objectives:
- Increase the capacity for transporting natural gas and liquid products.
- Expand the number of public port facilities to support transportation.
- Strengthen the national energy security.
Scope of the Project: Infrastructure work (dredging and reclamation)
- Total area of approximately 1,000 rai, with a pier length of 2,200 meters
- Navigation channel with a depth of 16 meters
- Boat return basin 700 meters wide
- Sea reclamation area, totally 550 rai, divided into two parts:
- Plot B: 200 rai – construction of natural gas storage and regasification facilities, and a natural gas terminal
- Plots A and C: 350 rai – IEAT has revised the project approach from a joint investment model to a long-term lease arrangement
- Sediment storage area (silt pond) of approximately 450 rai
- Total investment (Phase 3): 93,625 million baht, comprising 30,300 million baht (32%) for reclamation by IEAT and 63,325 million baht (68%) for the construction of gas facilities and terminals by the private sector
Map Ta Phut Industrial Port Development Project Phase 3
Stage 1
Private partner: Gulf MTP LNG Terminal Co., Ltd. (GMTP)
Contract signing date: 1 October 2019
Capacity: Gas terminal operations with an annual capacity of 11 million tonnes
Project area: Plot B, 200 rai; navigation channel depth 16 meters; pier length 1,415 meters; 3 gas terminals and 4 service wharfs
Concession period: 35 years for the private sector (3 years for infrastructure construction, 2 years for gas terminal construction, and 30 years for operations)
Responsibilities of the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT)
- Payment of government joint investment of 1,010 million baht per year over 30 years (payments starts in year 5)
- Compensation for affected individuals totaling 93.6 million baht for 936 people (completed)
Responsibilities of the private partner (GMTP):
- Design and construction of infrastructure (Infrastructure work) – completed on 31 March 2025
- Design and construction of gas terminals (Superstructure) – under construction, subject to conditions precedent
