On 21 January 2026, Mr. Chula Sukmanop, Secretary-General of the Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO), welcomed Ms. Dong Liming, Vice Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the Yiwu Municipal People’s Congress, together with a delegation from the Yiwu Municipal People’s Congress, at the EECO office in Bangkok. The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views and discuss approaches to enhancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), as well as to explore opportunities for expanding future collaboration in the EEC area.

The visit aimed to provide in-depth insights into the EEC’s investment promotion policies and incentives for investors, while also serving as a platform to explore the expansion of trade cooperation and economic connectivity between Thailand and Yiwu, one of the People’s Republic of China’s key commercial hubs.
In addition, both sides exchanged perspectives on industrial cooperation in high-performance manufacturing, the comprehensive e-commerce industry, and advanced technologies such as New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), in line with the EEC’s targeted industry development strategy.

The Standing Committee of the Yiwu Municipal People’s Congress expressed its commitment to building concrete and long-term relationships with the EECO, and to supporting Yiwu-based entrepreneurs and investors in exploring business opportunities and investing in Thailand, particularly within the Eastern Economic Corridor.
This discussion represents another important step in strengthening Thailand–China cooperation at both the local and policy levels, contributing to the expansion of trade and investment networks and the advancement of modern industries to drive sustainable economic growth over the long term.
