From 13–15 April 2026, Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO), in collaboration with the Mekong Institute (MI), organized a green investment promotion activity at IE Expo China 2026 held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China. The event aimed to present Thailand’s policies on green industry investment, facilitate one-on-one business matching with targeted investors, and strengthen partnerships with leading environmental enterprises. This initiative focused on expanding investment opportunities in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) through integrated collaboration among Thai agencies, including the Department of Trade Negotiations, Ministry of Commerce, and the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand, under the “Team Thailand” approach.
IE Expo China 2026 is recognized as one of the world’s largest environmental technology exhibitions, highlighting innovations for sustainable development such as water and waste management, renewable energy, pollution control, and greenhouse gas reduction technologies. The event plays a vital role in promoting green investment and supporting the global transition toward a low-carbon economy. During the exhibition, EECO presented the development vision and investment opportunities in the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economy within the EEC, conducted targeted business matching sessions, and exchanged knowledge with international companies in key sectors including renewable energy, waste management, and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCUS).
This activity forms part of the “Promotion of Special Economic Zones in the Lancang–Mekong Region” project under the Mekong–Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (MLCSF), implemented by MI. The project emphasizes green investment promotion, particularly aligning the development of the EEC with global ESG standards. Throughout the event, the EEC received strong interest and positive feedback from over 100 investors and participants.
