EECO Welcomes Delegation from Latin American and U.S.–Mexico Chambers to Explore Trade and Investment Cooperation, Strengthening Thailand–Americas Linkages

On 2 April 2026, Dr. Cholachit Vorawangso Virakul, Assistant Secretary-General of the Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand (EECO), welcomed a business delegation from the Latin American Chamber of Commerce, Singapore (LatamCham), and the United States–Mexico Chamber of Commerce, California Chapter (USMXCOC), along with representatives from various industries. The meeting aimed to explore avenues for enhancing trade and investment cooperation, as well as expanding market opportunities between Thailand and countries in the Americas.

The discussion focused on presenting an overview of the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) as Thailand’s key economic zone, including investment promotion strategies in targeted industries and the EEC’s role as a regional hub for manufacturing and investment in Southeast Asia.

The delegation expressed strong interest in Thailand’s potential as a manufacturing base and a hub for supply chain connectivity, particularly in expanding business opportunities into the United States and Mexico, as well as promoting Thai products in Latin American markets. In addition, the delegation showed particular interest in the development of U-Tapao International Airport (UTP), the establishment of a Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) hub, and industries related to the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy, which serves as a key driver for sustainable growth.

The meeting underscored the growing interest of the business community from the Americas in Thailand and reflected a shared commitment to strengthening economic linkages through knowledge exchange, business networking, and the development of long-term investment opportunities, ultimately contributing to sustainable growth for both regions.
