EECO Welcomes First Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation to Thailand, Advancing Cooperation in Education, Investment, and High-Tech Industries
On 25 February 2026, Dr. Chula Sukmanop, Secretary-General of the Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO), welcomed Mr. Alexander Sidorov, First Secretary of the Embassy of the Russian Federation to Thailand, and his delegation to discuss avenues for expanding cooperation in education, investment, and high-technology industries.
The Russian side underscored the importance of promoting People-to-People Diplomacy through the provision of more than 50 annual scholarships for Thai students. These scholarships cover a wide range of disciplines, including Tourism and Hospitality, International Relations, Linguistics, Thermal Physics, and Nuclear Energy, etc., as well as additional and vocational education programs.
In response, EECO presented the investment incentives available within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) to support the establishment of educational institutions and investments in targeted industries. The EECO also offers a comprehensive One-Stop Service to facilitate foreign educational institutions and investors.
Both sides further exchanged views on enhancing international payment systems to facilitate cross-border trade and investment more effectively, as well as exploring the concept of an educational Sandbox project under an appropriate framework of cooperation.
The meeting reflected a shared commitment to translating strategic dialogue into tangible outcomes, with a focus on human capital development, technological advancement, and the strengthening of long-term relations in the economic, academic, and cultural spheres—laying a solid foundation for future strategic partnership.
