On 29 May 2026, the Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO) welcomed a delegation from Shanghai Tongji Science & Technology Industrial Co., Ltd., People’s Republic of China, led by Mr. Guan Yuanfa, Party Secretary and Chairman, together with six senior executives. The visit was organized to discuss and exchange information on investment opportunities as well as industrial and smart city development within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC).
Shanghai Tongji Science & Technology Industrial Co., Ltd. is affiliated with Tongji University, one of China’s leading universities, ranked 8th in China and 177th globally according to the QS World University Rankings. The company plays an important role in commercializing research and innovation developed by the university, while also undertaking engineering, construction, technology, and modern urban development projects through its network of subsidiary companies. During the meeting, the company expressed a strong interest in the EEC’s potential and its smart city development initiatives.
During the meeting, EECO provided an overview of the EEC development framework, progress on key infrastructure projects, investment incentives, as well as smart city and innovation ecosystem development strategies designed to support future targeted industries. Both parties exchanged views on technology development trends, construction project management, smart city development, and potential collaboration opportunities among government agencies, academic institutions, and the private sector.
