Recently, Mr. Thanawat Aroonpun, Director of the Digital and Innovation Technology Division, Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO), welcomed a technical delegation from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) of the People’s Republic of China, led by Mr. Zhang Jianyu, Deputy Secretary General and Chief Development Officer of the Belt & Road Initiative International Green Development Coalition (BRIGC). The delegation also included representatives from the Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center (FECO) of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China, the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), and the Just Transitions Incubator (JUTI) The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange information and discuss potential areas of cooperation in advancing green industries and environmentally sustainable digital infrastructure.
During the discussion, both parties shared perspectives on the development of Green Data Centers, including the application of advanced technologies to improve energy efficiency, the integration of clean and renewable energy, and approaches to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the digital industry. These efforts are expected to contribute to the transition toward a low-carbon economy while supporting sustainable development goals.
The two sides also expressed their shared commitment to strengthening knowledge exchange and collaboration in green industrial development, clean technologies, and sustainable digital infrastructure. The discussion laid a solid foundation for future cooperation between Thailand and China in promoting investment, facilitating technology and knowledge transfer, and fostering the sustainable growth of the digital industry. The visit marks another significant milestone in strengthening Thailand–China cooperation in green economic development and the digital industry. It also reflects the confidence of international organizations in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) as a leading regional hub for digital investment, innovation, and sustainable industrial development in ASEAN.
