Recently, the Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand (EECO), represented by officials from the Digital Industry and Technology Innovation Division, participated in the 9th Bangkok–Shanghai Economic Conference (BSEC 2026) under the theme “Connecting Thailand and the Yangtze River Delta: Advancing Digital Economy Cooperation and Investment Opportunities.” The conference was held in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China, and jointly organized by the Consulate-General of Thailand in Shanghai and Invest Shanghai, with the aim of promoting cooperation in the digital economy, trade, and investment between Thailand, Shanghai, and the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region.
The conference served as a platform for government agencies, investment promotion organizations, and private-sector representatives from Thailand, Shanghai, and Zhejiang Province to exchange views on the development of the digital economy, emerging technologies, digital infrastructure, innovation ecosystems, as well as investment opportunities and supporting measures available in both markets.
On this occasion, EECO representatives presented the investment potential and opportunities in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), with a particular focus on the development of digital infrastructure and a comprehensive digital ecosystem. These capabilities play an important role in supporting the expansion of the digital economy and future-oriented technology industries. The representatives also exchanged views on investment promotion measures and opportunities to strengthen linkages between Thai businesses and companies in the YRD region.

The discussions further highlighted the complementary potential between the EEC and the YRD, particularly in digital infrastructure, data centers, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), automation and robotics, and other digital technologies supporting future industries. These areas offer significant opportunities to advance investment cooperation, technology development, and business expansion into broader regional and ASEAN markets.
The conference also provided an opportunity for EECO to exchange views with leading Chinese organizations and private-sector companies, including WorldFirst, an Ant International business; Yell Worldwide; New H3C Technologies; Kasikornbank (China); and Agibot, which operate in areas including cross-border digital payments, digital marketing, digital infrastructure and cloud computing, financial services, as well as AI and humanoid robotics. The discussions reflected emerging trends in digital technology and highlighted opportunities for strengthening business cooperation between Thailand and China.
EECO’s participation in BSEC 2026 represents another important step in building networks and connecting investment opportunities with investors and businesses in the YRD region. It also serves to promote the EEC’s potential as a leading investment base for digital industries and future technologies in Thailand, while supporting the further development of trade, investment, and innovation cooperation between Thailand and China into tangible outcomes.
The Bangkok–Shanghai Economic Conference (BSEC) has been held annually since 2018 and has served as an important platform for strengthening economic relations between Thailand, Shanghai, and the wider YRD region. This year’s BSEC 2026 focused on the digital economy and investment opportunities, with the participation of government agencies, investment promotion organizations, and private-sector representatives from Thailand, Shanghai, and Zhejiang Province, with the aim of fostering stronger business linkages and advancing continued economic cooperation between the two countries.
