EECO and Mizuho Bank Strengthen Cooperation to Promote Japanese Investment and Advance EECiti

On 13 July 2026, representatives of the Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand (EECO), led by Mrs. Cholachit Vorawangso Virakul, Ph.D., Assistant Secretary General, met with Mr. Taketani, Managing Director and Country Head of Thailand, Mizuho Bank, Ltd., Bangkok Branch, at the Mizuho Bank office in Bangkok.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both parties to exchange views and strengthen cooperation in promoting Japanese investment in Thailand, particularly within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), Thailand’s flagship special economic development zone established to attract high-value investment, foster targeted industries, and drive the country’s future economic growth.

The discussion also covered the EECiti project, EEC’s flagship smart city and innovation ecosystem initiative, which aims to develop a future-ready city supporting advanced industries, research and development, as well as sustainable urban living and business operations. Mizuho Bank expressed its interest in the project’s development direction and explored opportunities to connect its network of Japanese companies and potential investors with the initiative.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on future areas of collaboration, including investment information sharing, business network development, and joint investment promotion activities. These efforts are expected to encourage Japanese investment in the EEC further and support the development of EECiti as a regional hub for innovation, advanced industries, and high-value investment.
