Recently, Dr. Chula Sukmanop, Secretary-General of the Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand (EECO), together with Dr. Cholachit Vorawangso Virakul, Assistant Secretary-General, and representatives from the Digital Innovation and Technology Division, welcomed participants of the Thailand Rule of Law Leadership Programme 2026 (T>RoL 2026) organized by the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) during their study visit to the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). The visit aimed to provide participants with insights into the EEC’s strategic role in driving Thailand’s economic transformation and enhancing the country’s global competitiveness.
During the visit, Dr. Chula Sukmanop, Secretary-General of the EECO, delivered a special briefing outlining the EEC’s vision as Thailand’s strategic growth engine. He highlighted the development of world-class infrastructure, the enhancement of the investment ecosystem, and the promotion of future industries, including digital technologies, data centers, semiconductors, automation and robotics, next-generation vehicles, and other high-value technology sectors.
The session also featured an interactive discussion with more than 55 senior executives and leaders from the public and private sectors, academia, and civil society. Participants represented a wide range of organizations, including Parliament, the Ministry of Commerce, the Board of Investment (BOI), the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission (OPDC), the Thai Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Thai Industries, leading research institutions, and major private-sector companies.
Following the briefing, the delegation visited the AIS Evolution Experience Center in the Eastern Economic Corridor of Digital Industry and Innovation (EECd) to explore the application of digital technologies and 5G innovations in industrial development, demonstrating the EEC’s potential as a regional hub for advanced industries and innovation.
The study visit formed part of the Thailand Rule of Law Leadership Programme 2026 (T>RoL 2026), jointly organized by the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ), the World Justice Project (WJP), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The programme aims to strengthen a cross-sector network of leaders committed to advancing the rule of law, good governance, and sustainable national development while enhancing Thailand’s competitiveness on the global stage.
