EECO Secretary-General Joins Prime Minister’s Delegation to Vietnam, Engages with Thai Businesses to Strengthen Thailand–Vietnam Investment Cooperation and Regional Supply Chain Connectivity

8 June 2026, Hanoi, Socialist Republic of Vietnam – Dr. Chula Sukmanop, Secretary-General of the Eastern Economic Corridor Office of Thailand (EECO), joined the delegation led by H.E. Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Thailand, during the Prime Minister’s Official Visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Dr. Chula also participated in a meeting between the Prime Minister and representatives of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam (ThaiCham), as well as Thai business executives operating and investing in Vietnam, held at the Fairmont Hanoi Hotel in Hanoi.

The meeting provided a platform for Thai businesses to share their perspectives, recommendations, and challenges related to conducting business in Vietnam. Participating companies represented a broad range of sectors, including agriculture and food, retail, finance, energy, industrial estates, construction materials, and manufacturing. The insights gathered from the private sector will contribute to the formulation of policies and measures aimed at enhancing trade, investment, and economic cooperation between Thailand and Vietnam.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of strengthening economic cooperation between Thailand and Vietnam under the concept of “Growing Together.” Both countries play significant roles in regional supply chains and possess strong potential to expand collaboration in trade, investment, and future industries, thereby reinforcing ASEAN’s collective economic resilience and competitiveness.

On this occasion, Dr. Chula Sukmanop participated in valuable feedback and recommendations from Thai businesses with firsthand experience operating in Vietnam. These insights will support the development of Thailand’s investment promotion policies and measures, particularly those related to the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), which serves as a strategic investment destination for targeted industries, advanced technologies, and foreign direct investment.

Vietnam is recognized as a key player in regional manufacturing supply chains, while the EEC offers world-class infrastructure, integrated logistics networks, deep-sea ports, airports, and a modern industrial ecosystem. These strengths position the EEC to facilitate greater investment connectivity and supply chain integration between Thailand and Vietnam, enhancing economic cooperation and regional competitiveness.

Following the discussion, the Prime Minister witnessed the exchange of two Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between Thai and Vietnamese private sector organizations. The first MOU was signed between Amata Corporation and FPT Corporation to cooperate on the development of Smart Industrial Estate standards. The second MOU was signed between CP Group and FPT Corporation to promote the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. These agreements reflect the growing momentum of industrial and technological cooperation between Thailand and Vietnam and highlight emerging opportunities in advanced industries and innovation-driven sectors.

The official visit to Vietnam marks another significant step in advancing bilateral economic relations, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries. It also reinforces the role of the EEC as Thailand’s premier investment gateway and a regional hub for future industries in ASEAN.
